Register a birth in Greece for children born abroad
When a child is born outside Greece, the birth does not automatically appear in Greek civil records. Without proper registration the child does not exist in Greek registries, future tax, inheritance and citizenship processes are blocked, and an AFM for the child cannot be issued. ELLYTIC ensures that foreign births are registered correctly in Greece.
Common use cases
- the child was born abroad to Greek parents
- one parent is Greek and one is not
- the family lives permanently outside Greece
- an AFM is required for inheritance, assets or future filings
Why this is often delayed
- foreign birth certificates are not properly prepared
- parental records are not updated
- certified translations are missing
- authorities request additional documents retroactively
What ELLYTIC handles
- document validation
- certified translations
- birth registration with Greek authorities
- linkage to family status records
- preparation for AFM issuance where required
